At Floral Stories,
it’s more than just flowers, it’s about the people.

Wedding Florist Serving Kansas City, St. Joseph & Beyond

I didn’t become a florist because I liked arranging flowers. I became one because I fell in love with what flowers mean. How a single bloom can carry a memory. How a color can echo a personality. How a bouquet can read like a well-loved letter to the people you hold closest.

This work is personal. It’s a tribute to the lives we’re lucky enough to live and the people who shape us along the way. I design every piece with intention, care, and a belief that the smallest touches—the ones you might almost miss—are often the ones that linger longest.

Because to me, flowers aren’t filler. They’re folklore. They’re keepsakes. And that’s where the floral magic really begins.

“Amberlee was so wonderful to work with! She took my inspiration and made everything come to life so beautifully. She put so much effort into every single detail and you wouldn't believe how many compliments her work received the day of AND in each photo! Highly recommend working with her to make your floral dreams come true!”

THE INTRODUCTION

Hi, I’m Amberlee—designer, storyteller, big-hearted farm kid turned floral artist. My story began how most good stories do, with the best plot twist.

From FFA to Floral Design

As an FFA kid, I always thought I’d study Ag Comm in college (which I did). But when I saw “Intro to Floral Design” on the elective list at Mizzou, I thought, why the hell not? That one class opened the door to something much bigger.

Tiger Garden & First Weddings

I soon found myself working at Tiger Garden, the university’s on-campus floral shop, and discovered a whole new calling I didn’t even know I was looking for. From teaching wedding design classes to designing my very first wedding, every step led me closer and closer to Floral Stories.

A Personal Turning Point

It wasn’t until I designed a memorial piece for my grandfather, and later created a garden-like installation for my grandmother’s service, that I truly understood what flowers could mean.

Flowers don’t just sit in vases. They carry stories.

Floral Stories & Family Roots

In 2023, I officially launched Floral Stories—now home to over 25 weddings a year, countless memorials, and a cozy studio space built by my dad inside my grandpa’s old woodworking shop. My family is a part of every bouquet and boutonnière. They’re my roots, and the reason I can keep on bloomin’.

Always the Baby of the Family

I’m the youngest of three siblings—and yes, I fully embrace my permanent “baby” status.

Auntie Life = Best Life

Becoming an Auntie to sweet Maysen has been one of my greatest joys.

Soundtrack of My Life

If I’m not designing with flowers, chances are I’ve got live music playing—think Taylor Swift, Flatland Calvary, or a night at Calf Fry.

Meet Maybelle

My sassy Aussiedoodle sidekick, Maybelle, is almost always curled up next to me.

Sweet Tooth Confession

Spicy food? Not my thing. But hand me an iced chai and a strawberry Pop-Tart from McLain’s Bakery, and I’m in heaven.

MEET THE FULL CAST OF CHARACTERS

Behind Floral Stories

It truly takes a village, and my team shows up behind the scenes with full hearts and open arms (and yes, a lot of ‘em happen to be related to me)

Let us help tell your story
  • Jarrett

    The Sappy Dad

OG believer in Floral Stories and my biggest cheerleader since day one. He built the flower studio and cooler, hauls flowers like a pro, and somehow always manages to sneak in a dad joke while doing it. If there’s heavy lifting or late-night runs, he’s the one showing up with a smile.

  • Heidi

    The Flower Mama

My go-to flower errand runner and master calligrapher, but also the calm voice of reason when the chaos sets in. Whether she’s helping with big wedding days, making sure Maybelle behaves, reminding me to actually eat, or just being a constant support - she’s truly the heart behind the scenes.

  • Maysen

    The Tiny Sidekick Florist

Without question, my niece is Floral Stories’ cutest team member, bringing endless joy to the shop (and our lives). She’s also the reason Wheels on the Bus is on repeat around here—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • Maybelle

The Goodest Girl & Official Shop Dog

Full of energy and plenty of sass, she’s my emotional support co-worker and the true mascot of Floral Stories. While I’d love to say I’m her favorite, the truth is she splits her loyalty between her grandma and grandpa, Heidi and Jarrett. Most days it’s a playful battle to convince her to come home with me—she’d happily have a sleepover with them every night.

  • Mad(ison)

    The Late Night Support

My go-to for all things tech, and the one who patiently wrangles my late-night ideas when inspiration strikes at the most random hours. She keeps me laughing while helping untangle whatever I’ve managed to break (or overthink) and always shows up with encouragement when I need it most.

The Roots (The Heart) of Floral Stories

My storytelling approach began with special chapters within my own life—designing a memorial arrangement for my grandpa, and later, a garden-inspired installation for my grandma, Joyce. I couldn’t just make a casket spray and call it a day. I wanted something that felt like them. And in doing that, I realized: flowers are a language of love. A way to honor what once was and what still is.

My grandparents aren’t just part of my story—they’re woven into every piece of Floral Stories. I now live in their home. And my flower studio? It’s in my grandpa’s old woodworking shop, lovingly transformed with a cooler my dad built just for me. They’re in every wall, every arrangement, and every idea that blooms.

That’s where Floral Stories began—not from a love of flowers, but from a love of people, my people.

Meet ReJoyce

My grandma Joyce is still the heartbeat behind everything I do.

She spent years delivering books to nursing home residents, keeping a meticulous list so no one ever got the same book twice. Inspired by her legacy of care and connection, I created ReJoyce—a Floral Stories passion project that repurposes wedding florals into fresh arrangements for local convalescent centers. At Christmas, we also run "Adopt a Resident" to bring gifts, blankets, and joy to every resident.

Memorial floral work isn’t just part of my business—it’s truly at the heart of it. From favorite flowers to symbolic colors and meaningful little touches, every sympathy piece is an ode to loved ones and a life well-lived.

Everyone’s story deserves to be remembered.

And I’m here to help tell it—one stem at a time.
