Blush & Blue July Wedding at The Sycamore Tree in Missouri
My first solo wedding. My brother’s wedding. A day that changed everything.
Some wedding days feel bigger than the day itself—and for me, this was one of them.
Collin and Cami originally planned to get married on May 2, 2020. It felt like the perfect spring date: cool weather, soft blooms, and a simple, heartfelt celebration. But just as we were getting ready to make it all happen, the world shut down. COVID hit, and with it came months of uncertainty, stress, and the painful decision to start over.
They replanned everything. I’m talking new venue, new vendors, new timeline—the works. Almost everything had to shift in some way, but I was lucky enough to still be part of it—this time as both the florist and the sister. 😉
On July 11, 2020, in the middle of a blazing Missouri summer, we finally made it happen. And somehow, despite the change of plans (and the heat that Collin specifically wanted to avoid 😂), it turned out to be everything they hoped for and more.
A Day That Felt Like Coming Home
Collin and Cami are both as easygoing as they come. They’re the kind of people who laugh through chaos, shrug off the little stuff, and make everyone around them feel instantly welcome. So naturally, their wedding was the same way. Warm, relaxed, full of people they love—no drama, just joy.
I already knew how well they fit together—I’ve watched their relationship grow from the start. But seeing it all come to life, both behind the scenes and as part of the family, was something else entirely.
Jace, Collin’s best friend and best man, said it best during his toast:
“I knew Cami was right for Collin when one night we were having dinner at Heidi and Jarrett’s, and she was picking on him and pestering him just like me and Amberlee would. I knew they were the right fit.”
Hearing that made me smile—because it’s true. Cami just fits. She slid right into our family with the same kind of teasing, laughter, and love that’s always been part of us.
It’s not every day you get to create floral magic for your own brother’s wedding—to design something beautiful with people you love, for people you love.
The First Time I Did It My Way
This wedding was a big deal for another reason, too: it was my first wedding on my own.
I wasn’t designing under a university program anymore. I wasn’t part of a class or a student team. This was me, stepping into my own shoes as a floral designer and putting my name (and heart) on something real.
Of course, I didn’t do it alone—my floral soulmates Lesleighan (my Mizzou floral design professor) and Sabrina (my floral bestie) were by my side all week. They absolutely crushed setup and let me be fully present for my family while we brought the vision to life. Designing with them felt like coming full circle. Their talent, support, and heart made the week feel extra meaningful—and I’ll always be grateful for the memories we created together.
Sweet Florals for the Sweetest Couple
The floral palette was soft and summery: blush, dusty blue, and creamy neutrals, tied with trailing ribbon and layered textures. Everything had that gentle, garden-inspired feel—elegant but never fussy.
From the ceremony florals that framed the altar to the sweet bouquets in Cami’s and her bridesmaids’ hands, the entire design reflected who Collin and Cami are: timeless, kind, and quietly radiant. We kept it heartfelt and intentional, letting the blooms speak for themselves in a way that felt personal, not overdone.
There’s something incredibly grounding about designing flowers for people you love. Every stem felt like a little love letter—and every arrangement, a chapter of their story.
A Celebration That Felt Like a Hug
After months of being apart from family and friends, this day felt like one big, overdue hug. People came from near and far—many we hadn’t seen since before the pandemic—to fill the space with laughter, tears, and the kind of joy you only get when you’re reunited after too long.
It was more than a wedding. It was a reminder of how good it feels to gather, to love, and to celebrate something real.
And I’ll never forget it.
